Join Gulfport Historical Society for the final edition of our Florida Summer Cinema Series!
Our selection for September is a period comedy that takes us back to the autumn of 1962 and the Cuban Missile Crisis. A low-budget filmmaker, Lawrence Woolsey, comes to Key West to debut his new film, "Mant" (it's the story of a man who turns into a giant ant). Blending real-world fears with the zany world of 1950's B-movie production, this film strikes a delightful note, leading Roger Ebert to call it "one of the most charming movies in a long time." This film is rated PG.
Pack a picnic, bring chairs, and join us for the screening on the back lawn of the Gulfport History Museum. Doors open at 7:30, film begins at sunset. This event is free and open to the public.
A huge thanks to longtime GHS supporter Bill Ward, who is sponsoring our September film.
