    MEET 'N GREET THE CANDIDATES

Join us along with ABC Action News and Friends of Strays for a Meet 'n Greet with our furry, friendly candidates. All are welcome to join the fun. We will have coffee, refreshments and snacks for the candidates and their owners. If you haven't voted yet this will be the purrr-fect time to choose a candidate that shares in your goals and expectations of the next chief pet executive officer of Gulfport! We will also be posting the latest polls.

More about Pet Mayor:  Gulfport Historical Society is teamed up with Friends of Strays, Pinellas County’s oldest no-kill shelter, to extend a tradition that recognizes the extraordinary purr-tential of our wonderful pets: the Gulfport Pet Mayor election.

Voting opened on January 27. Fans are supporting their candidates by voting (as often as they like) online, at the Gulfport History Museum, and at select locations across town – each vote costs $1. Anyone can vote - you don’t have to be a Gulfport resident!

We’ll announce the winners at Gulfport’s Get Rescued on Feb. 25. All proceeds benefit the Gulfport Historical Society, which runs the Gulfport History Museum and the Gulfport Arts Center, and Friends of Strays, a wonderful no-kill shelter that works to ensure animal companionship is accessible to all through adoption, advocacy, and services.

    GULFPORT  GUIDED WALKING TOUR

EVERY THIRD SATURDAY OF THE MONTH!  Join the Gulfport Historical Society as they take a stroll through history in Gulfport. The tour examines the creation of this small seaside hamlet; the tour guides — all Gulfport locals with a penchant for history and storytelling — share the town's history and stories with the group. The tour starts at the Gulfport History Museum where you can take a peek at some of their historic photos.

Tour is free for Gulfport Historical Society members. All others pay $15 per person. We have a water cooler at the museum; please bring your refillable bottle to fill up before the tour.

These tours sell out, so advance ticket purchase is highly suggested. Members should pre-register to ensure they have a spot. We don't love turning people away, but when the group gets too large it's hard for everyone to hear our tour guides.

Please note: While it's optional, our tour guides do appreciate tips.
